What is the difference between zetec and duratec

The previous owner also had the cam 'BELT' changed which would make me think it is a Zetec unless its a Duratec and the garage tried it on with the belt On another note the front electric window heater wired into the glass is not working, could it be because of chips on the windscreen or is it something that could be easily fixed?

Cheers Gents. Gymfocused Posted December 2, Posted December 2, Olib Posted December 5, Posted December 5, Gymfocused Like Loading I run a zx3 zetech in modified front wheel drive so ask away if you have more questions. I will confirm that it's a PZEV only option. But it still makes really good power. Common in sedans, not so much in hatches. BUT- manuals are out there. Not that rare- as there are a number of California states. My parents had one, and they live in Idaho. In green states VT, CA, probably some others the 2.
In 04 it was optional everywhere, but werent that common. I bought a 2. Duratec cars are pretty stout, I sold mine with k miles from new and the only things I had to replace that shouldn't have broken was the ignition cylinder, PCV Valve, and a vacuum solenoid. But I often see them break motor mounts and pull axles out. And by often I mean that every focus that ran with us this year had at least one DNF due to something breaking - usually chassis or suspension rather than driveline Meanwhile, I can't recall any other types of cars regularly DNFing.
I mean, a Subaru here and there - but there are a lot of subarus out there. It's amazing for how many cars there are issues with the wikipedia entries. I agree with above that all other Foci of this age range were 2. The SVT Focus had a 2. The Duratec should be lighter than the Zetec if that matters. I don't know if less weight on the drive wheels is a good thing or not for rallycross.
The 2. It was an option everywhere in It was available in hatches and sedans in those years, in it was only in the ST sedan. Having owned, worked on, and raced both Zetec and Duratec Focuses, I would prefer the 2. It's a much better choice for an automatic than the Zetec motor. Modified there's no contest, the Duratec will win out every time. I am leaning toward 6th gen and earlier Civic's.
Great project, great engine, great times. Mas Tequila por favor. Just the kind of stuff I wanted to know. Well relatively few mods compared to that of the top end K series units. I think it was running bodies, forged bottom end think the crank may have bin stock and a little head work. Anyone know of anyone doing these conversions for the Eilse? I heard there was someone that was offering a kit that used the stock box.
Thanks Chris.
