Speaker wire how much to strip
The white and the black are both on silver wires, the blue and the red are both on gold wires. I wish I could put a photo here. I have too many wires for the screws.

That must have been quite a shock! My main concern will be not slicing my thumb as I try force a rather blunt knife to cut through the cable sheath. I knew I should have got a sharp knife instead of another useless cable stripper. Like yourself I've never got on with any of the cable stripping tools except for the small plastic ones you use on Cat5 cable and the like and that was superb but I don't think it would work with a thicker wire at all.
God bless good old Stanley No idea if this is reccomended, but I just use a pair of scissors and an extremely steady hand. Suppose it all depends on dexterity, but if you're good with your hands I can't see it being a problem as long as you're carefull.
Works for me. Cheers S. Slackadder Active Member. Agree with Oly, I have used proper tools before but the QED XT I use for surrounds is bloody tough not compliant like the softer Chord stuff so a pair of scissors, a steady hand and a lot of patience will do the job!
Last edited: Jul 5, I think the easiest way is with a stanley knife. I slice down the centre of the length of the cable, then peel it back then cut the sheathing off. You dont risk cutting you fingers this way.

I had a look on the RS sight and apparently they're not that cheap, but for hassle free stripping I'd say it's totally worth it! Make sure to do this carefully and not too roughly, to prevent the wire from being damaged.
