How long are ryanair seat belts
If you have no idea which seat belt length works for you, do a little test at home. Measure from the back left of the seat cushion where your body meets it to the back right — stretching the tape measure over your hips and stomach. Wearing a seat belt is for your safety as well as the safety of everyone around you. It is folly to fly without wearing a seat belt. The Federal Aviation Administration does not want you to do that, though.
This is part of a memo they distributed to airlines back in when seat belt extenders first started to flood the consumer marketplace:. Discussion: Operators should be aware that seat belt extenders are being marketed to the public for their personal use while traveling. In order to support compliance with 14 CFR sections regarding the use of seat belts, assigned crew members should be aware of the possibility that passengers may attempt to use these extenders while on board their aircraft.
Most seat belt extenders are universal. Southwest aircraft uses a different type of seat belt mechanism so its extenders are custom but you can still find those for sale online, too. One other thing to note: Some airlines that use inflatable seat belts on their aircraft may not let you use a seat belt extender in those particular seats.
No one wants to feel badly about themselves, right? Not long ago, I was on a JetBlue flight. I had paid for an Even More Space seat — which I do on every flight. My success rate using this strategy is usually really high. Not only do I buy the Even More Space seat but I continually check the seat map leading up to the journey.
You should always do this too. As long as your fare allows free seat assignments, you can change your seat as many times as you need to in order to try to keep an empty seat next to you. On this particular JetBlue flight, the map continued to show an empty seat next to me even just a few hours before the flight. When I boarded, however, someone sat next to me and let me know his unhappiness by shifting his body every two seconds and continually pushing against the armrest between us.
Once we were in flight, I looked at the other Even More Space seats and saw that an entire row was empty. I asked the flight attendant if I could change seats, which was no problem. I value elite status upgrades since sitting in a business-class seat usually solves the space issue at least for me at my weight.
At the beginning of this story I mentioned the recent situation on Thai Airways where several women were barred from sitting in the business-class seats they purchased due to the use of seat belts with airbags. We were told to go over to the desk where we were told to repack our bags to we both had 20kg.
Having done that we returned back to the desk where a different member of staff told us that there was no need. In the end we'd been trying to sort out our bags for so long that they checked them in and told us not to worry about paying the excess. If you're flying with RyanAir I'd definitely recommend leaving extra time if you have a bag to check-in.
Boarding was much less stressful, which is saying something considering I was a nervous wreck at this point. We were told what gate to go to an hour before and when the plane was 10 minutes late arriving they kept us informed and told us what they had to do before we could board, which I really appreciated. If you pay to bring a bag you are automatically given priority boarding which means nothing because there were more people in the priority line than standard, and by the time you walk or get on a bus to the plane everyone is mixed up anyway.
We walked outside, waited in line and slowly shuffled onto the plane. It didn't take long to get on board but it took a while for everyone to get settled so I'd say about 20 minutes total. RyanAir cabins are incredibly basic - there are no seat pockets, the seats are quite close together and everything is plastic but for a short flight you don't really need anything.
As a plus size traveller one of the things I was particularly worried about was the seat belt - I've heard horror stories of them being really short and if you need an extender the crew can be really rude about it.
